Yes, I Love LSD!

Yes, I love LSD. The title is apt. But wait, this is not an LSD what you are thinking about. According to the great writer Devdutt Pattanaik, LSD stands for L-Laxmi, S-Saraswati, and D-Durga. You may not be expecting this meaning of LSD, but writers like Devdutt Pattanaik can think beyond the normal assumptions in the world.

All of us are aware of Laxmi, Saraswati, and Durga as we praise them for many festivals and Poojas. But what does this goddess exactly mean to us? Are they only mythological characters? With a holy layer of stories around them or do they mean something deeper than that? It’s easy to label them only as mythological stories or communal and orthodox stories. And maybe this has been today's fashion and an easy way to portray yourself as one with modern thoughts.

But, let’s keep aside a religious aspect of it, and let’s give it a thought. It has a much more deep meaning than you think. In Hindu philosophy Laxmi has always been a deity of Wealth, Saraswati is of Knowledge and Durga is considered as a deity of Power. All the three powers or goddesses represent the key aspects of human life that are inter-related with each other. And it has always been an important and crucial task to maintain a balance among them.

To get a lot of wealth (Lakshmi), one needs knowledge and intellect (Saraswati), to use the same wealth properly, for good deeds, we always need knowledge and of course, we have to power to protect ourselves from evil tendencies (Durga). ) Lack of even one of these powers can be detrimental to the overall development of man. But, the beautiful confluence and proper use of these three forces can take a person to the highest peak of progress.

As we see in society, many hooligans have both wealth and power. But, due to lack of knowledge i.e. Saraswati, will not be able to gain prestige in society. Many people have wealth and knowledge but they cannot cultivate or protect it.

Indeed, if we want a perfect example of the triune confluence of Lakshmi Saraswati and Durga, it is an extraordinary business tycoon family in India, i.e. 'The Tata'. No matter if he is Jamsetji Tata, J.R.D. Tata or Ratan Tata, have always been blessed with Laxmi (wealth). But, along with that, they have an equal amount of knowledge and the power to defend and survive. That's why ‘Tata’ has been a great and iconic example of this triune confluence and that is why for so many years ‘Tata’ has been a trusted brand not only in India but even globally.

But on the other side of the coin, the youth on whose reliance Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam dreamed of making India a world superpower and an independently capable country. But today that same youth generation is getting addicted to many club parties, at illegal parties near Sinhagad and in fact at a secret spot in every village and city while taking a dose of LSD (Lysergic Acid Diethylamide) which is now somewhat fancy name called ‘Doors of Heaven’ and another LSD stands for Lxxe Sxx or Dokxx, the so-called cool and daring buzz game to play.

So this society now needs a new but understandable philosophy of LSD. The proper confluence of Lakshmi, Saraswati, and Durga can bring about a radical change in the society and create an equilibrium in the society. So let's try to understand the new meaning of LSD and its power.
